Getting the Most Out of Refuge

If this is your first time using Refuge, welcome. Read this before starting your first conversation.

Refuge isn’t something to scroll through; it’s something to sit with. Like any meaningful conversation, what you receive from it depends on the honesty and intention you bring. These simple practices will help you use Refuge in the way it was designed not as a substitute for the people and faith that surround you, but as a companion that deepens your reflection, strengthens your relationships, and draws you closer to the truth.

  1. Bring it into real relationships. Refuge is meant to walk alongside your life, not replace it. Use it to process between therapy sessions, prepare for a pastoral conversation, or think through something before sharing it with a trusted friend.

  2. Share what surfaces. When Refuge helps you see something — a pattern, a fear, a truth you’ve been avoiding — turn that into conversation. Bring it to a mentor, counselor, spouse, or small group. Insight that stays private often fades; insight that’s shared takes root.

  3. Be honest, even when it’s hard. Refuge was built for real questions — doubt, grief, anger, shame. It never flinches and never flatters. The deeper your honesty, the more meaningful the experience becomes.

  4. Walk the Journeys with intention. Each 7‑day Journey builds on itself. Resist the urge to rush. Growth happens one day, one honest response at a time.

  5. Return to what repeats. Refuge’s Soul Profile remembers your themes. When a feeling or question keeps showing up, bring it back. Depth rarely comes from covering more ground — it comes from circling truth until it changes you.

  6. Know what Refuge is — and what it isn’t. Refuge offers reflection, not replacement. If you’re in crisis, call or text 988. If you need ongoing clinical support, see a licensed therapist. Refuge is the space between — the 2 a.m. quiet, the daily check‑in, the place to think out loud with grace and truth.

Growth doesn’t happen all at once. It happens in the quiet moments you return — to prayer, to reflection, and to honest conversation. Let Refuge walk with you in those times, reminding you that truth was never meant to be faced alone.
